A solution for the surveyor wanting to easily calculate earthwork cut and fill volumes

The calculation of earthwork and other volume quantities is a difficult task by hand.
Accuracy is poor and it is difficult to keep up with variations to the design as it evolves.
Cut and fill volumes are an additional difficulty. Also large amounts of money can be
involved. Now all this can be brought under control with CATO Earthworks. A 3D
model is simply created by processing data either by importing data from electronic
survey equipment or from digitising co-ordinates.

Available as an integral part of the CATO Suite, in combination with CADMeasure or as
a free standing module CATO Earthworks automates the process of calculating accurate
cut and fill quantities for all types of construction projects.

Excavation, landscaping, imported materials, regulated disposal, all with today’s emphasis
on cost control, all demand accurate measurement, CATO Earthworks provides the
environment to achieve these aims.

Powerful import/export facilities ensure that survey data, CAD designs and paper drawings
may be rapidly transformed into digital terrain models and analysed to determine precise
quantities.

Some of the key benefits are:-

Flexibility - Data import from a variety of sources, data logger output, CAD files (AutoCAD DXF
and MOSS Genio) or paper drawings.

Automation - Earthworks includes the ability to convert 2D survey data to 3D interpreting to
level text.

Faster Response - Client demands for a quick answer are easier to meet

Accuracy - Earthworks utilises the latest digital modelling techniques
to ensure accuracy. Calculations are by either Prismoidal or section methods (average end area).

In summary, ECL have now made available the ideal package, aimed specifically at the needs
of Construction Cost Management professionals everywhere, to make cut and fill calculations
easier and quicker than ever before.
